i think it is just a stupid idea fining people for not wearing their trousers above their boxers. it isnt just black people wearing it like that - you are just discriminating.
Shantelle
I think it is really stupid of young boys or men getting fined for showing a little bit of his boxers! Its pathetic?I mean theres more bad things out there which i think you should get fined for not pathetic things like this oh by the way its fashion how you have abit of boxer showing!
Mith
Funny how the country that was built upon liberalism cannot accept such a small issue.
Its not like your killing people or infringing the rights of other people by wearing your trowsers?
What ever happened to freedom of expression?
And targeted at black people? Hmmm, seems a bit of a racial issue to me...
Ah well...the US is just carrying on to bring upon its own downfall...we need a revolution soon hahahaha :D
Susan
I find that a little too bizarre to believe...next they'll say this behaviour promotes under-age sex or something (!)
Each to their own, but I personally find this quite ridiculous, and especially the key target; makes it rather disconcerting.
Ethnicicity
If young men want to have there undies on show let them. You see plenty of female thongs on show and yet that isn't made illegal. Ok it may not be the most pleasant sight but you have to feel free to express yourself otherwise you lose your individuality. Its just a fashion thing.
saz
it's stupid. the government is trying to control every little thing we do ... they're trying to take over our lives. it's just a fashion, in a few months we'll all probably be wearing waist high pants anyway
Caroline
That's absolutely ridiculous! Firstly because, surely it's more crude for a female to wear an absurdly short skirt that only just hides her bum cheeks than for a male to show the top of his boxers. Personally I don't think either of these are crude but you can't target one trend and not another. Clothes are a reflection of personality and the only kind of leader that tries to have control of such things surely must be a dictator!
Secondly how can it possibly be targeting blacks?? The whole trend, even if blacks started it, has been copied by all races from all countries so blacks are in no way, shape or form being singled out by this bill.
Mel
It's sexy! It's in fashion and makes it look great! As long as they don't expose too much i think it's fine! A lot of the time it happens by mistake anyway!
Lisa
I think it is terrible that showin your underwear might become illegal, everyone has a right to show their socks and other forms of clothing, so why not underwear? It's becoming fashionable to show your underwear and people feel comfortable wearing them like that so no one can make them stop, they are not doing any harm, soon we wont be allowed to show our socks!!! IF THEY'RE CLEAN THEY'RE PROUD TO BE SEEN!!!!!!
Leah
well, it doesn't really bother me too much, and don't see why people sud get fined for it, but i can understand why people will disapprove with it. i personally think it looks ridiculous and totally uncool.
chrissie
i think it makes the men look sexier
T
That has to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. What do you get fined for next, bra straps showing, a bit of flesh of your lower back revealed? Shouldn't you be targeting strip clubs where people show a lot more than the top of their boxers? This is the kind of law that encorages misconduct, rebellion and wastes police time.
damo
i think its stupid cuz der iz loads of peeps in my skool who do it and if that is wat happinin i dout that anyone in our skool will listen anywayz
Leann Balzan
Now adays you see a lot of guys and sometimes women doing this but people shouldn't get fined because of how they wear their clothes. When men go to beaches you see a lot of guys with their underwear showing and this includes also black people. Black people are exactly the same only black so they have the same rights like everyone else.
Max McElarney
If the under wear issue is top of the American political agenda then the country must be in really good shape. I think the bill is completly mad. Would it be okay to go out in shorts, what about tight shorts, what is the difference between shorts and underwear. What if I was wearing no underwear at all and there was a builder cleevage going on - what then. Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne have a lot to answer for!
victoria robinson
yes way they should show their pants
gem
i think u should b able to wear your clothes how u feel like wearing them. and not have follow rules and regulations all the time.
Tina Smith
What a stupid thing, if lads want to show off their boxers then let them - it's hot, sexy and turns girls on! People shouldn't look if they are offended. Leave them to it!!!!!!!!
kate
that's soooo dumb. it just proves that someone out there has got way too much free time to dream up stupid ideas like that!!! That's just like charging peeps for following trends!!!!!
lauren
I personally think it is no ones business on how you wear your underwear. Does it really matter if you just happen to wear your trousers lower? i think the politicians should find time for more constructive things to do than fine people on how they wear their clothes. it is just another excuse to fine people to get more money.
Omar A. Gray
It is true that if this law is passed in Virgina, those that are affected will more than likely be mostly young African American youths. Wearing one's pants low and showing one's underwear started in the prisons because inmates weren't allowed to keep their belts. This prison fad made its way into mainstream society. Personally, as a young black male, I hate seeing males (black or white) with their underwear exposed. It's a sloppy look and it makes those who wear their pants that way more susceptible to discrimination. In short, cats should pull their pants up and stop promoting prison fads because having spent time in jail/prison is certainly not something to glorify.
get_christie_love
the legend here in the states is that back in the south during segregation, the black men in prison used to have to wear their pants low around their behinds, the lower your pants, the more ignorant you were made out to be. it was usually a sign that you could not read or write. so some blacks here have been trying to get the young guys to pull their pants up as a sign of respect because of what it used to signify during segregation....
Justin Baidoo-Hackman
As if black people didn't need another reason not to get involved in politics. Debating the pluses and minuses of having your boxers visible or not is simply childish. Fashion fads have never threatened the fabric of society only enrichened it. The law is a blatant attempt to criminalise black culture and black youths.
Louis Boston Splott
Thats stupid to suggest it should become illegal,i let my jeans swing low they look best like that i think & if my boxers pop out in the mean time so be it...plus Game's jeans probably swung low cos his pockets so swole...Thats da reason his are so low...play on son..
Berachah
For one if you don't like to see underwear there sure isn't a law that says you have to look. For two if seeing underwear is really something that we have to make a legal issue, that is a true testament of how messed up our justice system is to be concentrating on seeing people's draws rather than the really important crime issues we have in this day and age. I don't mind seeing a man's draws every once in a while. I don't have to look if I don't want to that's for damn sure.
Derrick N. Ashong
Yo, this is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. The fact that Virginia legislators are using tax-payer money to debate fashion faux-pas indicates just how far off track their values are. It also shows that they are stupid, and their own drawers are probably on too tight. Peace, D.N.A
G-Man
Thats raw, mans dem shud b able to wear their trousesrs newhere they want. u dont have these issues when britney wants 2 go on stage wiv hotpants and a bra. 1
Sam
i think this proposed law is absolutely ridiculous, its only a fashion and isnt hurting anyone! only in america would people think that banning low cut jeans is more important than tackling gun crime!
Uzo Madu
This law will definitely focus on black youth as this is a characteristic of their culture in america as black youth. Whoever i do not feel it is a racial issue at all and maybe it is good now our men can start pulling up the trousers and looking more respectable. Personally i dont think it is a big issue.
*angel*
thats out of order ! i like seeing boys boxers lol
