I think it is disgusting what they put in chicken nuggets. I seen jamie's cooking show and his food is way healthy than our schhol dinners and i would of been really pleased if jamie oliver did come to our school

I think Jamie deserves a medal. What a hard job to tackle. I am horrified by what my grandchildren are expected to eat. Ripped off Britain and let down children. 37p per child is less than the money I spent on my cat!

Having gone to boarding school in England (now living in South Africa) I remember being traumatised by endless meals of fish fingers, cornish pasties and under cooked or burnt chip to which, to date I cannot eat, no matter how well prepared.
I would go home for holidays after losing weight and my parents would think that there was something wrong with me.
The answer was I was living on bread and jam and sweets from the Tuck Shop, as there was no option or alternative.
I know I was not the only one who felt that way, and thank God Jamie Oliver has decided to do something about the travesty known as school food.
amy
my skool dinners are disgusting they don't treat us with the right respect. I agree with jamie and i cant believe it about the prisoners, GO JAMIE!!!
jess
my school dinners were horrible!! for some reason they added parsley to everthing!!! it was so gross we used to all just walk round to the shop and buy sweets and crisps.
kids need to be healthier because obesity is a majoy issue so i think its a really good idea to give kids healthier school dinners.
Bex
i think skool food is horrible nd i havent bin near d stuf 4 2 yrs! i think jamies feed me betta campaign is gr8 cuz it wud b nice 2 eat some decent food 4 once.
the government want us to eat healthily wel they shud start in skools as dats wher the real problem is!
rosie 13
i hate my school dinners there ok when you first start but that cause most kids like junk food. hardly anyone eats the healty because it tastes horrible. i think jamies school dinners is a gr8 idea i like healthy food but at the moment our scool makes it taste horrible.
rayza
my school serves nasty food only rarely they will give something good. evryday the lunch serves nasty, greasy hamburgers and other leftovers. please spend more money on better food for my school's sake please!!!!!!!!

Jamie oliver, keep it up, i work with kids, the food they eat has an effect, surely one thing worth spending money on is ensuring that the youngest generation have a healthy future!
Sarah
i'm 13 and I live in Northern Ireland. At my primary school i only ever had school dinners for 1 week because we were fed disgusting junk food. not only was it really unhealthy and completely tasteless but i once was given pizza that was actually mouldy!!!
i think it's disgraceful that the government lectures us about healthy balanced diets, fitness and obesity when all they feed us at school is rubbish!!! and how can they put prisoners' needs above those of children!!!
sarah
i think it should be balanced like on mon and wed and fri there should be chips and new pototos and then on tues and thurs there should be like baked pototo and sandwichs with salads.
jeny brwon
i like chips and chocolate because they taste nice and look good to eat.

i think its a good idea to make food more healthy but my school has gone over the top they dont even sell fizzy drinks anymore! and its expensive £1 for a little salad it doesnt seem like a lot but to 11-15 yr old it does and the sandwiches are 95p boring flat drinks they sell is 60p encourage us to eat more healthy but dont make us! by they way i think jamie oliver is only trying to help- good on him!
SADIE
I THINK IF HE DONE THAT IN OUR SCHOOL THEN NO ONE WILL EAT THE HEATHY FOOD
Laura Hill
Our school dinners are ok but some of the food is really processed, its good what Jamie Oliver is doing!
Sophie s
At my school, we have the option of etaing a healthy option, such as salads and sanwiches, but the meals are not appetizing, come in small proportions and are very expensive, so most pupils decide to eat things such as chips and burgers, which are cheaper;we get more of, and are more appetizing.
I find the chips and other unhealthy items of food at our school discusting, and are always drenched in fat and grease.I would personally love to eat things such as salads etc at my school, but they just look boring, uninteresting, and are expensive for the tiny proportion that they are.
Rach!
I'd deffo swap dinners for pastas and salads. I've been meaning to eat more healthily for ages, and its me taking choices that means I can't. If my mum were to buy only healthy stuff, id have no choice and id just get on with it. if schools put out healthy salads id just get on with that too, as long as prices are low!!
rosalind
i think he has his hart in the right place, but turkey twislers are so tasty! i say a bit of both not just horribul saleds yuk!!!! as longe as its tasts nice im happy.
Ross McInnes
My school serves a mixture of junk food and some healthy....I would eat the healthy, but its far too expensive. The junk food is much cheaper...the school say they want us to eat healthily but then charge more for helathy food...it doesn't make sense

I think Jamie should have 100% backing from the government, this is our kids futures the benefits would be incredible
Lauren
In my school we are given a wide choice of food, however the area devoted to unhealthy food is over double then what is given to heathy food.
In the past couple of years the healthy food has become more popular at my school, however the vast majority still eat the food which resembles something that has come off the back of a truck.
For the prices my school sells food i would expect alot more then what we do actually get.
I think what Jamie Oliver did was great, it has given us a great insight on what junk we are being given to eat.
linz
i think they showed the worst of the schools because my school dinners are not like that they are well balanced and very nice
J BONE
MY 7 YEAR OLD SON STARTED SCHOOL DINNERS LAST SEPTEMBER.IHAVE NOW STOPED THEM BECAUSE HE HAS PUT ON OVER A STONE IN WEIGHT. IM SURE THIS IS BECAUSE OF ALL THE SATURATED FATS THAT THERE IS. THE SCHOOL SAYES THAT THERE IS ALWAYS AN HEALTHY OPTION, BUT IF A CHILD IS OFFERED JACKET POTATOES OR CHIPS, IM 99% SURE THAT THEY WILL CHOOSE CHIPS, NO MATTER HOW HEALTHY YOU FEED THEM AT HOME.WELL DONE JAMIE, ITS ABOUT TIME SOMETHING WAS DONE ABOUT NUTRION IN SCHOOLS.
zoe
i have had school dinners every day since year 3 i am nowin year 8 and i reckon meals are getting worser and at my school {patchway high}
meals go up 10p every year now a simple meal is £1.35
Rachel
School dinners are terrible at our school, it's just the same boring junk like pizza, chips and burgers every single day. If jamie oliver came to my school, and changed the menu, believe me, i would go back to school dinners instead of having a sandwich and an apple for lunch!
vickie
I was literally shocked by the findings that this programme illustrated, in particular the testimonials which stated that after introducing better meals, concentration was better and asthma pumps were being administered less. Doesn't every parent want this for their children? It has certainly changed my views on what to give my daughter for tea and on how I view Jamie Oliver - Go Jamie Go! - all the sane mums are 100% behind you!
sally baxter
anyone who doesn't already see the beifits of healthy eating watch the programme! concentration and behaviour of the kids are improved just by diet! not 2 mention the health of the kids. Our skool meals were too expensive and nearly completely junk food. I can't believe how many children wanna eat that fast food its not even real food!
Hannah
I have lived in England most of my life and recently moved to France (i'm 15)but I must say that school dinners in England are unbelievably bad compared to school meals in France - I know France is well known for good food, but if they can do it what's stopping England? Thumbs up for Jamie!
Cute bbz!
i think its disgusting we should b able 2 eat wat we like! we should hav our say in all of dis! Our skool as had a healthy eating in the dinners so im only dinners on thursdays now cause thats roast dinners! every other day i hav sandwiches!
Amy Mac Connachie
I think Jamie took on such a hard challenge and he pulled it off! if the governmnet wants british health to improve then we should start with the kiddie's! how are kids suppossed to learn how to eat healthy if there fed chickedn nuggets and pizza from the age of 5!
YT
i dont know much bout school dinners in britain cuz i never ate them when i waz in england and im a japanese, but i am shocked to know that d government spends less on kids than prisoners! with tax and school fees thats paid by their parents that is.
in japanese elementary schools, we're fed a meal with well balanced nutrition, as we are tought to eat in the domestic science class. also in prisons, prisoners are served with calories calculated to match their daily labour which vary from farming to cooking. harder workers get fed more.
