1XTRA NEWS: THE REAL TALK OF THE STREETS
Is parenthood stressing you?
Baby crying
If you're a new parent feeling the strain then you're not alone, according to a survey for baby charity Tommy's.
Over three quarters of mums and dads with young kids say they find it stressful - and several blame society's attitudes to young families and a lack of facilities.

More than half of parents say they never get help if they're struggling with a pushchair on public transport, and 77% complain they can't find changing rooms for their nippers.

And there's a big impact on social life - one in three hardly ever see their mates and 94% always think of their kids before themselves.

So do you reckon young families get a raw deal?
Do you think society's attitude to young families needs changing? Are you a parent who's experienced bad attitudes? Or are you child-free and fed up of mums and dads moaning?

Thank you for your comments. This debate is now closed. A selection of your emails is published below.

The pressure on young women to have a "useful" role in society is behind this stress. What happened to the good old career of motherhood?

i agree with kirsty and dwayne and belive the reason peole dont help is because they dont have children themselves or they simply have no manners. I would also like to say that how being a parent can be stressful unless you cannot afford the child I don't get. Having a child is the most important thing in life , it should not be a stressful event but instead a happy time, being able to see your flesh and blood grow into something so beautiful and cute. Allow the child to be who it wants to be and not stess yourself out with what you want it to do and how you want it to be.

i have no children, but know it must be difficult for parents to be depended on by children the way they are BUT... i also know that aint no1 stupid enough to think that its easy having children. SO how can parents be moaning about their responsibilites, just do it and shut up!!!!

kirsty and dwayne fr stoke
the only reason these mindless people dont help or have any simpathy is because they aint got kids or babys themself.it takes having the love for a child to know how hard others make everyday life.they wont know how rewarding life is untill they venture into mother or father hood
