1XTRA NEWS: THE REAL TALK OF THE STREETS
Scared of dogs?
Rottweiler
There's shock at the death of a five-month-old baby who was mauled by two dogs in a pub where her parents worked.
The rottweiler dogs, which have now been put down, were used to deter burglars.

The pub was open when the dogs got hold of the baby and dragged her onto the roof.

Every year an estimated 200,000 people are bitten by dogs in the UK and 70% of them are children. How can they be protected?
What makes a guard dog a killer? Does this heighten your fear of dogs? Is the responsability down to the owner rather than the dog? Is the law on dangerous dogs too lax? How do we protect children from dangerous dogs?

It's the owner's responsibility to train, socialise and control their dogs at all times - a lead is a good start... Large or small, a dog can seriously damage a child or even wildlife for that matter. I leash my dog outside our securely fenced garden at all times, not only for the public's safety, but his own. Despite his large, detouring size, we still manage to be attacked by offleash dogs on near daily basis. Dog owners should be more responsible.

i don't blame the dogs i blame the owners who bring these dogs up to attack, any dog wit little or no socialisation will attack provoked or not the dogs do not know any better as it is the way the owners have trained it. I have a staffordshire bull terrier who is great wth my 2 month old daughter, i would never leave my baby unattended with any dog no matter how well it gets on with the dog, it is called responsable parenting, my dogs are always kept away from baby unless we are there to supervise them with the kids.

just make sure that there dogs are where they can get out unless there oners let them out

my 4 year old son is petrified of dogs. we cant go anywhere without him having a panic attack if there is a dog without its lead on. it really annoys me when owners can see he is scared but dont call the dog away they just say 'he wont hurt u hes just a big softy' at the time all i feel like saying to them is 'i dont give a damn get the bloody dog away and on a lead were it should be'. slowly dealing with my sons fears and getting there slowly
