Two ex-young offenders give us the exclusive on their experiences in and out of custody in a special for Crime Day on the BBC.
Both juveniles are now taking part in the Fresh Start scheme which aims to re-house and offer emotional support to recently released young offenders.

What's it really like to serve time inside?  What are the deeper reasons for young people to start committing crime? And can someone really fit back into everyday society?

Have you ever been inside?  Have you ever visited someone in prison?  Tell us your stories.

i think that it is hard to fit back into everyday life when you have been to a YOI. People look at you different when you come out, you're not given the oppertunities that everyone else is given & i think that it is unfair.I did 10 months inside, i came out 9 months ago & still finding it hard to fit back into everyday life.
