I fell pregnant with my daughter when i was 16. My daughter is now 5 and i have been with her father for 6 years. I appreciate that i am extremely lucky in that i have has immense amounts of support over the last few years. I qualified as a hairdresser whilst being pregnant but soon realised i wanted more from life so i went back to college, completed 3 A-levels, an AS level and am now entering my 3rd year of mu degree in human biology with a view to becoming a secondary science teacher. I would really like to get involved in a programme to help make young girls realise that having a child young is not easy but at the same time teach them that it does not have to mean that your life has to stop and being a mum is the only thing you can do. I have been involved in sex ed in the local high school, talking about my experiences but the session has been reduced to a mere 30 minute slot delivered to half of the girls in a year group. If this is the amount of time given to this subject it is no wonder why there are so many girls getting pregnant at a young age.

I am currently pregnant and fell pregnant at 14. I am now 18weeks pregnant and think that there i no correct age to be a good parent although age does make you wiser and you pick up more knowledge in age.
