The number of people stopped and searched has increased in seven out of the 10 areas targeted by the Government as knife crime hotspots in England and Wales.

1Xtra News and Radio 1 Newsbeat polled 500 teenagers in those 10 areas.

More than 50% said that police stop and searches targeted the ‘wrong kind’ of people.

With stop and search rising, how is the tactic affecting relations between police and young people?

Its a disgrace if you ask me. If they had a proper reason to stop and search fair enough but i dont think that what someone wears should be a valid reason for this!y should we stop wearing what we want just to avoid bein stereotyped?

THIS IS TRUE RECOGNISE THE REAL DEAL. Stop and search is ridiculous and shouldnt be legal as most of the time you find the wrong person and it is ruining the releaionship between police and young children and they will grow up thinking that the police are the enemy !! '

Authoirty is what it is. They are right to stop people with reasonable grounds. Its safe for members of the public. They may find something they didnt expect.Stop wearing hoodies, cheap nike trackies and you won't get stereotyped.
