This was a fantastic story - very well put together. I am most impressed with how Jal is continually working with disadvantaged groups and working in peace advocacy. He is a great role model for young people in Kenya, Sudan, and elsewhere. Congratulations.

Emanuel Jal's story was really sad story in the early days when he was recruited by the SPLA as a child soldier like thousands of young Sudanese children.
I saw Jal in Nairobi some years when I worked as a relief worker in Southern Sudan formerly known as Relief Asssociation of Southern Sudan (RASS).
I am very happy indeed because the worst situation where Jal endured during those days has become the best day. Jal had really suffered a lot like other Southern Sudanese during the civil war. people are very glad seeing that Jal remembers all bad things happened to him during the Sudan civil war.

keep it up mr jal you are our voice, i am glad to hear young sudanese speaking against corruption and tribalism. if 80% of young sudanese could have the same view that you have, there will be hope that sudan will have future in years to to come.

As the saying goes - positive thinking leads to positive results. He is the living example of the power of positive thinking. He is a great role model to lots of kids. Inspiring story and make you thankful for what you got!

Remembering Afrikan kin like Jal pulls me two ways: One way is self-castigation for not being grateful enough for my vastly better lot compared to so many others. The other pole is immense gratitude for Sub-Saharan enclaves of relative peace and progress like Kenya, Nigeria and (Praise the Lord for Apartheid's demise!) South Africa. Big Up Soja Boy!

this made the lights come on and made me realise that there is hope. and that there is a reason for all that happens good or bad. it has also made me wonder if jal had choosen to be swallowed up by the hate and anger of his situation, would we have heard of this?
it just goes to show that all we do in life definitely echoes in heaven and on earth. we are all linked and all have a purpose. the question is are willing to stand out as emmanuel did and take on the challenges that lay ahead of us as we fufill it?

I am happy to see Jal's story making its way to international ears. His story is so important because it is a shared story; millions of Sudanese children experienced similar childhoods (or lack of childhood) as a result of Africa's longest-running civil war. For too long, the international community turned a deaf ear to the cries of Sudan. I hope the world will listen to what Jal has to say now - in his story and in his songs. His words hold valuable lessons for us all. I will be listening and I will spread the word. Thanks for this documentary.

Emmanuel Jal is a typical example of hope in Africa and his story is one of the most incredible stories i have ever heard.Having met him at the live 8 concert, i think he has got a burning torch in him.A torch that will light the way for hundreds of thousands, possibly millions of young people to follow.I truly wish him all the best in his career.

this is a really moving documentary, its so hard to imagine that everyday there are children going through what Jal went through. it goes to show that life is all about what you, yourself make of it. you may come across challenges but nothing is impossible. i think Jal's life story so far shows hes really someone to look up to and i hope his US tour goes really well for him.
