Aight, really. Name just one male artist who was tearing it up 20 years ago and still is giving us note worthy music today. Many new artists fresh material can't compare to his now watered down image. Still inventive, fresh and unique. Live performances have faultered a bit with age, (not slowed down but tuned down with maturity). Old material has been tweeked to gel with the sounds of today although they really don't need to be but that's his genius of never ceasing to grow or experiment. The boy still got much flavor.

Prince was, is and always will be a musical genius. All musicians of note look to him and get inspiration from him. Copying his style, ideas and music is the norm for up and coming artists. As well as the music, there are the lyrics which can stand on teir own as modern poetry. The themes he has tackled in his music (racism, governmental spending, weapons, family, coming of age etc) are issues which we all have to think about and do something about. I saw him 3 times during his tour and if I had had the money and the luck to get more dates, I would have gone all 21 times. Each time was a different set, with different songs and a different vibe. His music transcends age, race, style.

Prince is the greatest musician, artist, live performer, entertainer on the planet. There is no-one out there that can test him on any instrument - he plays all of them to an insane level, no-one can test his songwriting or live shows. He's just incredible. 'Sign O' The Times' is a very strong contender for the greatest album of all time. I had the pleasure of meeting him after one of the London afterpartys last year, and the man radiates a spiritual positive vibe. He IS music, and music today would not be where it is today without him. There are so many producers and artists out there there have spent their entire careers imitating Prince.Like Alicia Keys said: "There are many kings....but there is only one Prince"We are the New Power Generation.....Welcome To The Dawn!

What else can anybody add that is not know or heard? He IS the one and nobody can deny.Even we in Eastern Europe have been fans for a half generation. He gave us the knowledge of real music that covered so many styles and we loved it very much. There were other "old Schoolers" came along with him but Prince has always been unique. For us, he meant freedom. Now that he is back he is as good at it as he was at those times.I just love him!

I can't believe that you are even have to ask the question as to whether Prince is a genius or not. Of course he is. I went to see him for the 1st time about 15 years ago at Man City Football ground and had to sit down when he came on stage because my legs shook so much the wouldn't hold me up. Best live concert ever...got my tickets for 9th Sept and every time I think about it I get pulpertations (I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack - oh my god I am SO excited). I have all his album and his symbol tattooed on my back.Favourite track(s): Live version of 'Nothing Compares to You' featuring Rosie 'Closer than Close' Gains and of course 'Adore'. The man writes the most beautiful ballards. Have a purple day...peace out!

Prince to me is one of the most influential artists of todays music, he is an absolute genius in what he does, he has always had it and will never lose it.He has changed music in every single way, i adore his music has it has a varied sound, every album is different and to me that's quite an achievement when you've released approx 30 albums, and has recorded over 1000 released and unreleased songs!!!! GENIUS!!!!!

what a ridiculous questionPrince is the shakespeare of musicyou are only asking this question because he is still alive, think Cobaine, Hendrix, Hutchinson

Prince is a true Genius. A musicians musician! He has been making music for 30 years and has produced music that some artists will only ever dream of.He covers all styles of music, Rock, soul, funk, jazz.....you name it, he's played it!Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of fame 2 years ago he really should be appreciated for the master that he is.I raise my hat to you. Pure excellence!

What can I say? I've been a follower of Prince since 1980 and at one point during that time, it was either Prince or Rick James for me. Loved Michael jackson but Prince was different. His music stood out and still stands out. He was like an eighties version of Sly Stone and I just gravitated towards that sound. He is a complete musician which we do not have anymore. Last of a dying breed!

I'm not just a follower of Prince, who is a leader among musicians....I am a follower of great music. From Funk, Blues and R'nB to Rock, Soul and Jazz. Prince is the very definition of popular music. He crosses generations like no other - consider that I am taking my father to see him for his 60th birthday, and he's more excited than I am. However Prince cannot compete with artists of today, as there simply is no competition. The dates and aftershows at the o2 will make it 12 concerts in 17 years for me, but how I wish it was more. When you are witnessing the legendary genius of Prince performing live you cannot help but watch in a state of bewildered amazement. For so many of us August and September in London will be like one long Christmas morning, and we're safe in the knowledge that Prince's gift to us will be the very thing we've always wanted.

True Legend and definately a one off. Multi talented, been a fan for 25 years

I decided that Prince was a genius the night I saw him perform an aftershow at the Hipperdrome, London. His performance of the, at the time, unreleased track 'The War' made me wonder, but as the music flowed I was sure. I can still see him - slinging his guitar round his back, guitar pick in mouth, turning round in an uncomfortable pose to play keyboards. In his intense concentration he became the music.

Prince still ranks among the best live acts in the world. The relevance of his albums may have dwindled but his career is 30 years old.. who stays at the top for 30 years?I saw him live about 5 years ago at the Hammersmith odeon and he was absolutely incredible... I can't wait for this new tour!Prince shold rename himself King.

Having being a fan for almost 9 years now i am one of the first ones in line to fight his corner, from the media always seeming to only ever want to pick and poke at him, to fans complaining about his albums or choice of artwork. what they never seem to understand is Prince is an individual he never follows suit he is a leader not a follower he has his own style and nothing compares to it. we may never have another purple rain or another sign of the times but thats prince and if all his music sounded the same it just wouldnt be Prince.
David Gibson
Prince has never lost his touch my god hes just released his 46th Album (Planet Earth) hits packages included, the problem is media and some fans alike seem to cant get past Purple Rain or Sign of the times and comparing todays work to the 80's. hes still a genius ive seen him live 4 times and the o2 will be my 5th concert their is no performer that can touch this guy, two words you can describe Prince "Simply Brilliant"
Mayu Mistry
I've been a Prince fan since the early 80's. Each milestone of my life is represented by a different Prince album. His work does not compare to anyone else. His songs make you cry and laugh. It's amazing how many instruments he plays and how many hit songs he has written for other artists.Like any artist some albums are better than others. But a mediocre Prince album is still tonnes better than a good album today from any other artist. He is amazing to see live. The best gig was one I saw in Minneapolis a few years ago on his birthday. Truly an amazing night and the aftershow gig was at Paisley Park - I was in heaven.I definately agree with one of the comments on the documentary, when ever Prince is in town his fans will come out in droves to see him. He is truly exceptional and I'm looking forward to his 21 nights in London

Prince is like the gift that just keeps on giving! I had most of his stuff on vinyl way back when (long since lost these!) but have some compilation CD's now and love listening to him today as much as I did back then. I was fortunate enough to get a copy of freebie new album the other week and although not every track hit the mark, for me personally, he's still got it! No question!! Come on.. Sign 'O' the Times?... Kiss?... I would die 4u?... what's not to like?!
