Land of the rising riddim
*
Listen to the documentary
Reigning dancehall queen Junko writhes, whines and booty claps better than any other – and she’s straight outta Japan.
We’re gonna show you how the land of the rising sun is building on its reggae roots and having one very big love affair with dancehall.

How come a culture that seems so regimented is vibing out to the loose sound of dancehall?

Hear from artists including Mighty Crown plus the crop of new soundsytems like Infinity 16 and Chill Drive who flip between Japanese and Jamaican patois with ease.
Why are the Japanese so into dancehall? Is this Japan’s latest craze or something that’s going to last?
