Soaps are stupid and totally unrealistic. The Black and asian families in soaps are always the 'slightly dodgy ones'. Its racist. Isn't it obvious Hindus would be offended by that? Its like battering Sunita with a statue of Jesus on a Cross. Soaps should steer clear of religion if they can't paint a realistic picture of different cultures.

i appreciate the sensitivity of the situation, but i have to agree that i think its all been blown out of proportion. ITV were good to apologise but lets not get carried away here! D'ya want them to run every script by every group first to ensure they get the all clear from every one before going to air? its a story, and the character is meant to be mad, i'm sure someone somewhere has done something similar in a fit of madness! Get over it!

My best friend is Hindu, and to perfectly honest she doesnt even care, because at the end of the day its just a soap, and theres no point getting so worked up about it.

I think corrie have learnt from this so they shouldnt do it again otherwise it proves dat day dont care bout other religions. I think they should say sorry and than everyone should forget bout it cos its over and done with.

I think evry1's making a fuss about nothing. I understand why people arent happy with it but to those who are so bothered about it - its a soap! The storyline was that Maya was a maniac who wnted to hurt Sunita in every way possible and if that meant being racist then thats what she would.

Its just a story though and I hope everyone has realised that! And to the Hindu leaders-they apologised-what more do you want? Im sure that they genuinely meant that they were sorry what else could they do-It was one episode and it's over and done with now you cant turn back time.

Why is one of the only asian families depicted in a soap represented as totally psychotic? Isn't this all a bit tokenistic? - I found images of Sunita in Hindu wedding dress crying in a cell offensive - it's racist and ignorant and slightly fetishistic.

Wot u all have to understand is that idols and pictures of gods are important in Hindu religion. Its unacceptable to use them as tools for violence. Thats not what they are they are. They represent peace and a way to help for prayers. It doesnt matter if its a tv prog, dats not da point. Its not jus a reason for people to kick off for nothing. This is important to a set of people and uve got to respect their feelings. The intention may not have been offensive but it has turned out that way. Why culdnt Maya use a Knife or a bar, dat would still show she was not a fit mental state. Why use a object that has great signifcance to a part of this society that we live in 2day.

tv is generally based on reality although it is far fetched for entertainment value. I did not see the scene but in reality if someone is as mad as maya (in all senses of the term) the i doubt very much she would have thought twice about what she killed Maya with. This was in no way supposed to be offensive and i personally do not think that it is. just another excuse for people to kick off for all of nothin
