How you got into being a DJ/presenter
I come from a musical family. They made me do it! And a lifetime love of and devotion to music led me into DJing. One day I got a mysterious call from 1Xtra and they made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

Your biggest influence(s)
My family, because they are the love of my life. My ears are the other thing that has shaped my life.

Biggest achievements
Recognition and respect as one of the best females working in DJing today internationally. Ya heard!

Key tune that you love or inspired you
I'm a big Marvin Gaye fan. Most songs from his albums Here, My Dear and I Want You make me feel good and I never tire of them.

What's your dream gig or collaboration?
An outdoor gig with my whole family and loved ones present and the sun shining and a killer juice bar! Because I've never been able to do that show. And Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder could perform too. That'd be nice! And maybe A Tribe Called Quest in 1994. And The Jackson 5! That would be a show to end all shows!

Interests / hobbies outside music
Everything this life is about! People, gaining knowledge, cooking, being active, swimming, skiing, philosophy, meditation, being outdoors. I love life so the most simple things can interest me.

Three rules you live your life by
1. We should all realize what it is we have been put on this earth to learn and do.
2. Neutralise a negative thought with a positive one.
3. Everything happens for the right reasons.

When did you last flop as a DJ?
I don't do flopping.

Favourite piece of clothing and why?
My mother's wedding dress and my traditional Xhosa garms from South Africa because I'm proud! They tell a story and have sentimental value to me. Anything else, I think to myself when you really break it down, does it really matter or improve my life to be attached to these things? No, possesions are a ball and chain!

What has been your favourite year so far, and why?
Truly every year of my life! I learn new things, grow and evolve each year. I have been blessed in every year of my life, even the tough times I see as a blessing.

If you weren't a DJ / Presenter, what would you be?
A mother. The other calling in my life alongside music.
