Frequently asked questions

Not as stupid a question as you may think, as 1Xtra is not a normal radio station. There are three ways to listen to us:

1. On digital TV
2. On the internet
3. On DAB digital radio

Digital TV
1Xtra from the BBC is available on digital satellite, cable and freeview.Using your electronic programme guide you should be able to find us in the radio section. For more information on Freeview, check out the Freeview website.

The Internet
Click on the Listen Live button near the top of each page. Or click on any of the Listen now links to hear that show. To hear us you need RealPlayer from real.com - read our help on getting and installing RealPlayer.

DAB Digital Radio
We're not on FM radio, to get our signal you need a DAB digital radio. Unless your radio carries the DAB logo, it will not receive DAB digital radio. You can buy DAB digital radios from most specialist and high street electronics stores. You can find out more about Digital Radio at the BBC's digital radio site. For a coverage map click here.

We can't help with something we don't make, but you can find some tips from the BBC's help pages. It's got advice for RealPlayer - that's RealAudio and RealVideo - Shockwave, Java and Flash.

We'll consider all links that are sent to us - let us know the URL and in which section it should feature.
