Dancehall and Bass: The live session

Dancehall and Bass MCs

In April of 2006, the BBC's legendary Maida Vale studios paid host to a unique event, blending together reggae roots DJs, drum and bass MCs and live band The Bays.

D&B MCs in the spot included Top Cat, Yush and David Boomah while Earl 16, LevySill and Levi Roots supplied the reggae vibes.

Listen to the live tracks:

Track 1: Top Cat does his 'Special Request' chat on the 'Answer' riddim.

Track 2: Earl 16, Yush and Levi Roots ride a spacey dub groove.

Track 3: Soundtrack from the Dancehall and Bass video (see above).

Track 4: Top Cat spits some classic chat over a house-tempo break.

Track 5: ONLINE X-CLUSIVE!! Check out Earl 16, LevySill and Levi Roots on this never heard before track.

This event formed part of 1Xtra's Dancehall After Dark week.
