Riddim up
(August 2006)
Riddims are considered by many to be the backbone of dancehall. Young Lion puts his finger on three of the hottest on road right now.
Tropical Storm
Does Don Corleon ever put out a lame riddim? This is the follow up to the 'Sweat' riddim, which has a similar sound.
Capleton comes out big twice on this riddim. To think he’s 39 and still churning out hit pon toppa hit!
It's a wicked old skool mix down which the UK artists ride as good as their Jamaican peers. JD comes out tops as he brings us back to a style which many dancehall fans grew up on.
Listen to Tropical Storm
1. Alaine - Hurry
2. Capleton - Wha Dis
3. Capleton - Hit Pon Toppa Hits
Gully Slime
Not content with the huge success of 'Dutty Wine', Tony Mattherhorn is back with another big track 'Goodas' on the Gully Slime riddim.
Riddim also has a big follow up to Mr Peppa’s hit 'Talk' with 'Gangsta Gureilla'.
This riddim is massive! Look out for cuts from Lady Saw, Movado and Elephant Man.
This is definitely a riddim that will get ya stomach shaking as it booms through the speakers.
Listen to Gully Slime
1. Tony Materhorn - Good As
2. Mr Peppa - Gangster Guerrilla
3. Ward 21 - Garrison
Bad Belly
While many producers are revamping old riddims, Ward 21 does one better and revamps two at once!
The 'Badda Badda' and 'Bellyas' were both huge riddims in the past, and what they’ve done here is mesh the two together, hence the name 'Bad Belly' Gwan my youths!
Listen to Bad Belly
1. Ward 21 - Artillery
2. Mr Peppa - Troublemaker
3. Tony Matterhorn - Gone But Not Forgotten
