This summer, there's gonna be some hot reggae events going on around the globe with some major dancehall line-ups -
unfortunately not in the UK though.
We've picked the top 3 reggae festivals for Summer 2006:
Summerjam, Sumfest and Reggae Sunsplash

Summerjam
Europe's Biggest Reggae Event
|
Taking place right at the beginning of Germany's summer, this will be the 21st Summerjam event. Again, 1Xtra were at the event in 2004 when acts like Sanchez, Beenie Man & Vybz Kartel performed.

The Acts:
Artists like Elephant Man, T.O.K. and Warrior King will rock the dancehall crowd whilst Jnr. Kelly, Morgan Heritage, I-Wayne, Luciano and many more will provide the Roots and Conscious style. Veteran acts like Jimmy Cliff, I-Jahman Levi and Toots & The Maytals will bring back these good old Reggae memories and there will also be German artists like Joy Denalane, Chulcha Candela and Patrice representing.

Reggae Sumfest
Jamaica's Greatest, the World's Best
|
A week long festival representing an explosion of music, the world's biggest stars, Jamaican food and the hottest July sun, Over 55,000 fans are expected will make the trip for Reggae Sumfest. 1Xtra were there in 2004.
The Acts:
Across the week, visitors will be able to catch artists like Buju Banton, Gregory Issacs, Gyptian, Rhianna, Capleton, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Elephant Man, plus recently announced stars 50 Cent and G Unit.
When: Sunday 16th July - Saturday 22nd July
Where: Across several venues in Montego Bay, Jamaica

Reggae Sunsplash
The World's Greatest Reggae Festival
|
First staged in 1978 in Montego Bay the festival was put on pause in 1997, and has not been held in Jamaica since. For the first time in nine years Reggae Sunsplash return to take it's title as the 'world's greatest reggae festival'.
The Acts:
This year's festival line-up will include over one hundred dancers, poets and musical acts. Among those confirmed to perform are international stars, UB40, Maxi Priest and Steel Pulse plus singers Luciano, Alaine and Morgan Heritage. Also on the line-up are dancehall A-Listers Damian Marley, Buju Banton, Beenie Man, Ninja Man, and Vybz Kartel and their female counterparts, Macka Diamond, Lady Saw and Tanya Stephens.
When: Thursday 3rd August - Sunday 6th August
Where: St Anns, Jamaica.
